Blog 8, N&N – Nitin’s birthday 26thAug2021

It was going to be Nitin’s first birthday after the wedding and he was going to turn 42 on 26thAug21. Since college times, he had forgotten to celebrate any birthday with life taking its course of responsibilities, job etc. Namrata, herself isn’t too keen on birthday celebrations either.

Initially Namrata wanted their wedding to happen on this date, however they were married earlier in July. July month went away with wedding preparations, the event, honeymoon trip and later trip to his hometown. They both were just taking a breathing with August month arrived.

Nitin was showing a sudden interest in replacing his existing 5-year-old Ford sedan car, with the reason that Ford was soon going to close its operations in India. Namrata never owned a car to herself and had least interest and knowledge about that luxury in life. She just went by the flow and supported Nitin in whatever his wish was.

They both checked out few options and within the same week, agreed upon a car model keeping in mind the early availability, their need and budget.

Namrata somehow requested the car sales team if they can deliver the car around Aug 26th, stating the reason as well. To their good luck, only within 15 days, the exact car model was available with a slight variation of dual tone. The sales team was quite professional and they fully supported the couple in exchanging the existing car and completing all the paperwork as well.

N&N expected to pickup the car on 26thAug itself and to their surprise, they got a call that they can even pick the car a day earlier on 25thAug.

Namrata had initially planned a day off from office accordingly and they had booked their weekend gateway to Renaissance located at Race course road within Bangalore city to celebrate dual occasion.

Nitin was excited like a kid, who could not wait to get hold of a toy/car and finally convinced Namrata to pick up the car early and drive down to the hotel as per plan. Namrata had baked an eggless fruit cake at home for Nitin. She packed everything needed for 2 days stay and they arrived at the car showroom before noon time. The overall process took some time as there were multiple pick-ups scheduled. It was with utter joy; the couple received their first car together and drove down to the hotel which was around 20km away.

It was Namrata’s first time at Renaissance hotel and had barely travelled towards that part of the city. It is an old hotel surrounded by lush greenery and grass lawn.

Nitin being an elite member of Marriott group, the hotel team upgraded them to an amazing suite overlooking Race course from the 20th floor. It was an exquisite suite room designed beautifully with a huge living cum dining room, bedroom and bath area. The hotel staff secretly consulted Namrata to send a birthday cake for Nitin at midnight. By the time, they settled in the room and took little rest, it was already evening. N&N headed to the lounge at ground floor, where they had a great evening having many tasty starters and mocktails.

They ended the eventful day early and exactly at midnight, the hotel staff knocked the door with a cute chocolate cake in their hand.

Namrata was expecting it and hence she quietly received it, which Nitin was already into deep sleep. She woke him up, video called mom and quickly helped Nitin cut the cake.

Next day morning, Nitin wore one tshirt gifted by Priya’s family during their Delhi visit. Both walked to a nearby Ganesh temple and explored the locality a bit. Back at the hotel, after a superb breakfast which had their favourite cold coffee; Namrata started her work for the day. Evening time it rained well, while they were enjoying the evening lounge hours. The bartender was skilled and presented delicious mocktails to sip.

Post 2 nights, N&N headed back home over the weekend with their new possession.
