Neither Nitin nor Namrata asked for their contact numbers, even after an amazing first meeting.
It was just a coincidence, as Nitin is a socially extroverted person and Namrata too likes to keep in contact with people with whom she can share a good hearty conversation.
The weekend was going by usual, with Nitin staying at Pune and Namrata at her house in Bangalore.
Again, destiny started its role by having the familiar friend insisting to Nitin that he must say hello to Namrata and thus passing her number.
Similarly, the friend subtly asked Namrata if she was having any objection, her number being shared with Nitin.
Hence started a formal WhatsApp chat, which converted into a regular daily evening phone conversation. Cupid somehow was making these two souls available exactly at the same time every day which helped their friendship grow.
The talks were casual and with each passing day, they discovered more and more, astonishing and rare commonalities to the extent of preferred air conditioner temperature. This is when Namrata knew that Nitin can play piano, which is her favourite instrument of all and she can go on listening to it for hours.
The hours were extending longer and their conversation more fluid and effortless with each passing day.
May21 was a month that had to witness a strict covid lockdown in Indian major cities. As per his job profile, Nitin had to travel extensively and Bangalore was in the cards as well.
Hence came another plan of three of them meeting and Namrata cordially invited to her house this time. The familiar friend dropped out for some reason and on a Friday evening, Nitin landed at Namrata’s place for an Italian dinner consisting of vegetarian Lasagna and Blue lagoon mocktail.
That one dinner further continued with frequent lunch and dinner visits for the next few days.
The ease of each other’s company was so seamless, that Nitin even rode “Yulu” electric scooter on a day with no cabs available due to lockdown.
They both realized that they had many similarities despite differences. The long evening terrace walks, meditation, Netflix movie marathon, mocktail and popcorn combo et all kept them engaged for these days.
Neither of them till then thought in the direction of even a casual romance. They had turned into two childhood buddies inside adult bodies.
Nitin wondered – How come Namrata reads my mind and what I feel. And the other side, it was the same question in Namrata’s mind too.
They played truth game over the phone quite often. The idea was each of them will send the answer in the chat window at the same time.
Once the question was – “What is that one act, you’ll do never?”.
Namrata replied “Cheating on my partner” and Nitin’s response “Will not leave my partner”.
Nitin had already extended his trip by two days and yet the sea of conversation had no end. With two more days to go,
Namrata asked – “Given a choice between today and tomorrow night for dinner, which one you’ll choose and why?”.
Nitin replied instantly – “Tomorrow night as I would like to keep the memories fresh and for longer time while am away. The selfish me thinks, why it can’t be both the nights; while the sober me wants you to take nice rest tonight”.
Namrata – “And what’s the answer your mind gives to that selfish me?”
Nitin – “Answer to the selfish me is again from the heart. It wants to create as much memories possible and finds even two nights quite less.”
A day before his scheduled departure from Bangalore, during their last meeting for that trip; Namrata suddenly spoke up in a confused manner – “I don’t know why Nitin, but am going to miss you so much.”
It wasn’t something easy for her to say, she being a Capricorn woman. Feelings and emotions flow to her occasionally; yet difficult to come out from the mouth. Always led by her brain, Namrata was in a dilemma reading her heart this time.
Nitin’s response was a shy grin and the day went by with them scrolling through the possibilities of being together. None of them officially proposed or so, as if everything was understood without any further words. Doom of love was planning, which neither of them planned to.
Silence is golden !
And one must choose a partner who understands the silence more than the words spoken.
